Buckley Moss is a patron of the arts and is a champion for children with learning disabilities. "Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest" is the second of four prints in the Presidential Homes of Virginia series that artist P. Buckley Moss created exclusively for VPM. This print, from 1994, is a stately portrait of the Virginia landmark located in Bedford County, Virginia, near Lynchburg. Construction began on Jefferson's octagonal retreat in 1809 and, by 1814, it was complete. Jefferson referred to Poplar Forest as his most valuable possession, along with Monticello, and spent much time there until his death in 1826. Many families lived in the house until restoration efforts began in 1984, including Jefferson's grandson and his family. Open to the public, Poplar Forest has undergone complete restoration efforts, bringing the home and grounds to it original beauty and style. Purchase a piece of history!
